Recreational
Opportunities
Florence County offers hundreds of acres of public
land for hiking, camping, fishing, hunting, off-roading,
snowmobiling, downhill and cross country skiing, An amazing
area for outdoor enthusiasts. Whitewater rafting at Piers
Gorge just east of Niagara, WI.
CANOE and KAYAK the many rivers and streams. The Pine and the Popple Rivers are Wisconsin designated Wild Rivers and are a great paddle through the undeveloped forest wilderness. Tube or kayak the Oxbow on the Pine River, just a few miles south of Florence on County Highway N. The paddle takes from 2 hours oras fast as you want. You end your trip only 1 mile from your car. Tube and kayak rentals at Wild Rivers Adventure on US-2 in Florence.

FISHING: The lakes and streams of
Florence County are just waiting for you to drop in your
line and enjoy some great fishing.Florence County offers 265 lakes and 165 miles of rivers and streams filled with a wide variety of fish.

SKIING: Keyes Peak Downhill Ski Area is located 4
miles south of Florence on State HighwayHighway 101. Downhill skiing,
snowboarding, and tubing with rental equipment available.

SNOWMOBILING. Enjoy almost 200 miles of groomed trails connecting to Iron Mountain, Crystal Falls, and Iron River in the Upper Peninsula and Marinette and Forest County Wisconsin. Trail Report
SPREAD EAGLE BARRENS NATURAL AREA. Just south of Lake
Anna you will find one of the last areas in the state of
Wisconsin that was never settled and remains undeveloped as
it was many centuries ago. Rolling plains, grasslands,
sweeping vistas, wild birds, butterflies, wildlife, and
wildflowers dot the landscape and delicious blueberries are
ready for picking during the summer.
WATERFALL TOUR: Florence County has several waterfalls
located on state designated Wild Rivers, the Popple River
and the Pine River. Both offer canoeing and kayaking with
portage trails around the waterfalls. The Florence County
Waterfalls are not easy to reach and are on backroads,
sometimes impassible, so be cautious as you treck into the
woods. All the waterfalls are accessible by land except
Little Bull Falls that is located on private property and
can only be viewed from a canoe or kayak.
- LaSalle Falls, Meyers Falls, & Bull Falls are
on the Pine River. LaSalle is the largest falls and it is
about a hike of 1 mile over hills and hollows to find
this exciting waterfall. Washburn Falls, Jennings Falls,
Little Bull Falls, and Big Bull Falls are on the Popple
River
