Scenes change rapidly at Swedetown. Up, down, turns, mixed stands of forest and clearings provide an exciting terrain for the skier. The flow of the trail is Swedetown's specialty. The trail is meticulously groomed and the addition of a warming chalet and lighted trail have made Swedetown hard to beat.
30 km of groomed cross-country ski and snowshoe trails for beginning to expert ability.
Swedetown Trails are south of Calumet on US - 41, turn at the Swedetown entrance and follow the signs.
GROOMING: The trails are groomed for both skating and traditional skiing. Power tilling creates a safer, smoother track for spring skiing.
CHALET: Open at noon 7 Days a week serving snacks and hot drinks. No alcohol. Groomed sledding hill.
Trail Description of some of the many trails at Swedetown:
GREEN TRAIL - 5 km - Easy - Flat terrain, two-way traffic through
stands of mixed pine, birch and evergreen.
BLUE TRAIL - 2.4 km - Intermediate - Small rolling hills.
RED TRAIL - 8 km - More advanced - Some higher speed, more difficult hills, but mainly small rolling hills.
LEN'S LOOP- 1.1 km - Easy - Diagonal stride only, two small hills.
LIGHTED TRAILS - 4.5km - Flat, some hills. This is a Cadillac of lighted trails. Plenty of light is provided by the 31 sodium lights without destroying the ambience of night. Lighted until 10 pm.
