Tranquility Haven is a beautifully built, three - unit vacation resort located on the shores of North America's largest fresh water lake, Lake Superior. The sandy shores and crystal clear waters are only part of what makes Tranquility Haven a peaceful getaway with the potential for adventure.

The area surrounding Big Bay, Michigan is incomparable when it comes to the variety of possible outdoor activities. Whether you enjoy a quiet stroll on the beach, a challenging hike in the mountains, or exploring river waterfalls, Tranquility Haven is in the center of it all.

For those folks who are less thrilled with the out-of-doors, Tranquility Haven is a peaceful reprieve 25 miles North of the bustling city of Marquette, MI, which offers fine dining, shopping, micro breweries, live music, and much more in its ever-expanding downtown district.


TRANQUILITY HAVEN (Summer Rental)
(INCLUDES FANTASY BEACH HOUSE, BAY VIEW CABIN, AND BAY VIEW SUITE)

The custom-built home offers a uniquely private vacation opportunity for large groups, up to 26 guests, during peak summer months. The entire resort is rented as a whole during peak season to accommodate groups such as family reunions, business retreats, and weddings. The three units are connected under one roof, with each unit having its own separate entrance, giving large groups opportunities to interact together in uncommonly interesting settings throughout the three spaces. During the summer months, a replica tepee is setup on the grounds for guests to enjoy; kids of all ages are able to appreciate this marvelous feature that adds to the unequaled experiences one will have at Tranquility Haven.

FALL, WINTER, AND SPRING provides a different sort of vacation possibility for smaller groups to rent each unit individually, or the whole resort if desired.

This is the largest of the three units, accommodating up to 14 guests but is also perfect for a couple that just wants to relax in this beautiful home on the shores of Lake Superior.

BAY VIEW CABIN: A Step Back in Time

The Bay View Cabin is the second largest of the units, with three bedrooms, space for up to 8 guests. The front entrance for the Bay View Cabin is handicap accessible, directly off of the parking area. This cabin has preserved much of its rustic charm through its turn of the century decor, antiques and wood burning fireplace. The kitchen has a cooking range, dishwasher, refrigerator, microwave, and full range of dishware and utensils. The spacious bathroom has an updated handicapped shower but still holds onto its provincial charm. The cabin is also equipped with a washer and dryer.

High Speed Internet is included with rental.

BAY VIEW SUITE

The Bay View Suite is the smallest of the three, but is no less impressive. This cozy large one-bedroom luxury suite is located on the upper level over the deck, and can a ccommodate 2 adults and 2 children. The private entrance for the Bay View Suite is located on the deck, which is on the beach side of the house, up two short flights of stairs. A cozy living space with an electric fireplace and Bose sound system overlooks the Lake and shares the main room’s space with a micro-kitchen with all the amenities of home: sink/ refrigerator/ coffee maker/ microwave/ small convection oven/ pizza oven/ full range of dishware and utensils. One spacious bedroom with a king sized bed and a full bath overlooks the tranquil surrounding woods.

High Speed Internet is included with rental.

Enjoyment and use of the shared deck, equipped with furniture, dishes, and two gas and a charcoal grill for outdoor cooking, is available for all units. High Speed Internet (WiFi) is also provided, but with access to games, movies, volleyball, horseshoes, canoes, kayaks, and a campfire pit right on site, you may find yourself naturally disconnecting from the virtual world and reconnecting with the nature you are surrounded by. Linens for all beds as well as paper products for your arrival are included in each unit. Shower and hand towels are also provided for your convenience, however, the provided towels are not suited for the beach, so please remember to bring a beach towel and blanket.

We have replica of an original Tepee located by Tranquility Haven that is available for our guests to use.

Relax and enjoy this beautiful setting on Squaw Beach by Lake Superior. Miles of sugar sand beach await you for a stroll on the beach or just sitting in a lawn chair and taking in this fantastic view.

Area Attractions and Recreation

Tranquility Haven in Big Bay is only 25 miles north of Marquette on the edge of the Huron Mountains. Visit the Thomas Rock Overlook for a great view of Lake Independence and Lake Superior. Enjoy the beauty of Lake Superior or venture into the forests for hiking, ATVing, hunting, mountain biking, canoeing, kayaking, and fishing. There are many nearby lakes and streams beckoning the angler and kayaker. Lake Independence is noted for excellent fishing of pike, walleye, perch, and small-mouth bass. There is a public boat launch at Perkins Park and Big Bay Harbor. Canoes, kayaks, and 12' and 14' fishing boats with safety gear are available for our guests to rent.

Big Bay was the setting for filming parts of the classic movie "Anatomy of a Murder". Several businesses have interesting information and photos from this event. Lighthouse lovers will enjoy touring the Big Bay Lighthouse or the Marquette Lighthouse in Marquette. Marquette, the Upper Peninsula's largest city, also offers shopping, unique galleries, a Maritime Museum, Children's Museum, Lakeview Arena, the Olympic Training Center, and fine dining.

Winter in Big Bay is a Snowy Wonderland.

Tranquility Haven is within one mile of the main snowmobile trail and can be accessed right from the door of the lodgings. Ride the many trails in the Huron Mountains with trails leading all the way to Baraga. Excellent cross-country ski trails in Big Bay, Marquette, and Ishpeming. Marquette Mountain offers downhill skiing and snowboarding. Snowshoers will love stomping through the woods and ice fishing opportunities abound.
