The beach on Lake Michigan is only a few feet down the wooded path by the cottage. The perfect spot for your lawn chairs, sitting in the sugar sand, sunning on your beach towel, bird watching, or a morning or evening walk along the sandy beach. There is a firepit on the beach for your campfire under the stars or roasting some marshmallows. The night sky is especially beautiful on this almost deserted beach, a wonderful spot for star-gazers.

The area around Gulliver offers many interesting attractions and recreational opportunities for you to enjoy while you are relaxing at Top of the Lake Cottage. The Seul Choix Lighthouse is only a few miles down the road where you will find the Lighthouse Keepers dwelling open for visitors and a very interesting museum and gift shop. This is a fully operating lighthouse, but you can climb the tower and go right in the lantern room or enjoy walking down to the beach and on paths on the grounds.
The Seney National Wildlife Refuge in Germfask is about 25 miles north east of Gulliver where you can stop at the Visitor Center and see the many interesting exhibits, take the Marshland Wildlife Drive, or try some of the many hiking and mountain biking trails. Spring and Fall migration brings many unusual birds to the Refuge. Canoes and kayaks can be rented in Germfask for a paddle through the Refuge on the Manistique River.
A day trip to Manistique takes you by the picturesque red Manistique Lighthouse, still guiding vessels into the harbor. You might enjoy the old water tower, Siphon Bridge, and Historical Museum, a ride up to Palms Book State Park and Kitch-iti-Kipi (the Big Spring), a visit to the Bishop Baraga Shrine, or a walk through the Rainey Wildlife Area just north of Manistique. Restaurants, shopping, Kewadin Casino, a movie theater, and two golf courses in Manistique.
