Top of the Lake Cottage is nestled in a small clearing surrounded by a beautiful wooded natural area. A short path leads through the woods to the sand beach where you will find an outstanding view of Lake Michigan and miles and miles of almost deserted sandy beach in both directions.

Relax in the peaceful surroundings while you enjoy this modern two bedroom smoke-free vacation house with an open concept living area. The living room has Direct TV, VCR, a DVD player, and a wood burning stove for those cooler evenings when you want to sit around the fire.

The complete modern kitchen contains a stove, refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave, and coffee maker. Convenient laundry with washer, dryer, and water softener. Large full modern bath. Charcoal grill outside the kitchen for your outdoor barbeque.

Top of the Lake vacation home has two large bedrooms, one with a queen sized bed and the other with two double beds and can sleep up to 6 guests. Linens, towels, and paper products are supplied. Every room in the beach house has a view of the woods for a true northwoods experience.

The beach on Lake Michigan is only a few feet down the wooded path by the cottage. The perfect spot for your lawn chairs, sitting in the sugar sand, sunning on your beach towel, bird watching, or a morning or evening walk along the sandy beach. There is a firepit on the beach for your campfire under the stars or roasting some marshmallows. The night sky is especially beautiful on this almost deserted beach, a wonderful spot for star-gazers.

The area around Gulliver offers many interesting attractions and recreational opportunities for you to enjoy while you are relaxing at Top of the Lake Cottage. The Seul Choix Lighthouse is only a few miles down the road where you will find the Lighthouse Keepers dwelling open for visitors and a very interesting museum and gift shop. This is a fully operating lighthouse, but you can climb the tower and go right in the lantern room or enjoy walking down to the beach and on paths on the grounds.

The Seney National Wildlife Refuge in Germfask is about 25 miles north east of Gulliver where you can stop at the Visitor Center and see the many interesting exhibits, take the Marshland Wildlife Drive, or try some of the many hiking and mountain biking trails. Spring and Fall migration brings many unusual birds to the Refuge. Canoes and kayaks can be rented in Germfask for a paddle through the Refuge on the Manistique River.

A day trip to Manistique takes you by the picturesque red Manistique Lighthouse, still guiding vessels into the harbor. You might enjoy the old water tower, Siphon Bridge, and Historical Museum, a ride up to Palms Book State Park and Kitch-iti-Kipi (the Big Spring), a visit to the Bishop Baraga Shrine, or a walk through the Rainey Wildlife Area just north of Manistique. Restaurants, shopping, Kewadin Casino, a movie theater, and two golf courses in Manistique.

The eastern entrance to the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore is about 1 hour north of Gulliver at Munising. Visit Miners Castle, the old Life Saving Station with one of the lifeboats, the Pictured Rocks Interpretive Center, and beautiful Munising Falls. Try some of the hiking trails throughout the Lakeshore. Several waterfalls in the area with maps available at the Visitor Center. Try the Shipwreck Tour or the Pictured Rocks Cruise. The trip to Munising on M-94 takes you through the Hiawatha National Forest for a beautiful drive, especially in the fall.

Fayette Historic State Park is west of Gulliver on US-2 and south on the Garden Peninsula. At the Fayette Historic Townsite you will find an old iron smelting village with 19 structures remaining. The Visitors Interpretive Center has interesting displays, museum exhibits, and you can enjoy a walking tour through the grounds.

After enjoying some of the attractions and recreation that the area has to offer, return to Top of the Lake Cottage for a relaxing evening and maybe a stroll on the beach.

For some winter fun, enjoy the great cross country skiing on the 8.5 miles of trails at the Seney National Wildlife Refuge.

Directions to Top of the Lake Cottage in Gulliver, Michigan, 11 miles east of Manistique on US-2. Turn south at the blinking light in Gulliver on to County Road 432 (also called Gulliver Lake Road). Take CR-432 to South Lake Michigan Road and turn left (east) on Top O' the Lake Road. Turn right at the first driveway to the Top of the Lake Cottage.
