Ten Mile Creek Gift Shop features the hand-forged and completely handmade knives created by blacksmith and bladesmith George Potvin and collection of artwork created by many juried artists from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and beyond.

George Potvin has been working with iron since the age of thirteen and creates wonderful items in his blacksmith shop on the property. His hand-forged and COMPLETELY handmade knives with sheaths are available in the Gift Shop. He creates several patterns of Damascus and high carbon steel made in the United States for blades. GEORGE OFFERS CUSTOM WORK, HAND-SCRIMSHAW, REPAIRS, AND SHARPENING AS WELL AS CLASSES IN BASIC BLACKSMITH TECHNIQUES. GEORGE OFFER S A ONE DAY CLASS IN BASIC BLACKSMITH TECHNIQUES and other classes by request. This is a one-on-one class so he will give you his undivided attention. Fee is $300.00. We are occasionally closed for meetings, appointments, vacation, etc. Please call for certainty, if desired. Contact us for a special appointment if these hours aren't convenient for you.

Ten Mile Creek Forge and Gift Shop is located almost 7 miles due north of Bark River, Michigan. It is a pleasant drive through the countryside (there are arrows on every sign). Watch for our sign at the blinking light on Highway US-2 &am p; US-41 in the town of Bark River and follow the signs to the Ten Mile Creek Forge and Gift Shop.

You will be amazed by this wonderful collection of artwork, mostly created by residents of the beautiful Upper Peninsula of Michigan.

GEORGE POTVIN BLACKSMITH and BLADESMITH

Visitors can sometimes see George at work in his forge! These demonstrations are free of charge.

George also demonstrates his blacksmith techniques at many events throughout the year. He heads up the U. P. Steam and Gas Engine Antique Village Blacksmith Shop located on the State Fairgrounds at Escanaba. He demonstraits h is skills during Fair Days, Labor Day, Christmas in the Village, and other events held there. Fayette State Park Heritage Day is an annual event that he also enjoys. Other demonstrations are scheduled during the year.
