World Record Lake TroutHaylee caught this huge 20 lb 10 oz
Lake Trout Haylee was fishing in Lake
Superior
Haylee's Fishing Story On July 10, 2005, I was trolling on Lake Superior with my dad at one of our favorite spots. We were fishing with one of my dad's friends and his son. When suddenly my dad yelled "Fish, fish!", I grabbed the pole and started reeling. It took about twenty minutes to reel it in. It went back down to the bottom about five times. About twenty feet below the surface, we saw it and thought it was a big salmon. When I finally got it in the boat, nobody spoke for about thirty seconds. Then we started laughing and high-fiving. It was so fun. I'm happy that I caught it. Since everything has gotten finished, a lot of people have interviewed me. The Munising News, The Mining Journal, and TV 6 have all interviewed me. On February 15, 2006 the Field and Stream Radio is going to interview me as well. I really appreciate everyone and want to thank everyone for their support and interest in this achievement. I am proud to bring this Lake Trout record to the U.P. Haylee Mendenall
Haylee's Trophy Lake Trout was just under 40" long and caught on a trolling spoon close to the surface near the Big Reef. This is the second large Lake Trout that Halee has caught as she landed a 17 pounder a couple years ago, but that fish didn't make the record book.
