Canoe Livery

We go with you to the north bridge (Doucette's Bridge) where you park your car at our parking area and then we transport you back to the "put-in spot" at the south bridge (Camerons Crossing) where we will help you launch your canoe or kayak. That way you can have a leisurely paddle, stop for a swim, or enjoy a picnic lunch until you arrive at the north bridge where your car is waiting for you.

>

The AuTrain River is a gentle paddle through the Hiawatha National Forest taking from 3-4 hours from the South Bridge to the "take out spot" at the North Bridge. Enjoy this delightful paddle where you might see a variety of birds and wildlife as they come down to the river to drink. You might see ducks, songbirds, great blue herons, kingfishers, muskrats, and turtles. Loons and eagles often soar overhead. Enjoy this quiet relaxing trip for the entire family without rapids or portages along the river. . . . And don't forget your camera.

Canoes and kayaks may also be used on AuTrain Lake for paddling and fishing.

The AuTrain River and AuTrain Lake is the home to Walleye, Trout, Perch, and a variety of other fish. Anglers might like to fish the Steelhead runs in the spring or the Salmon runs in the fall. You will need a Michigan Fishing License if you plan to go fishing.

Fall colors are beautiful on the shores of the AuTrain River and at the Pictured Rocks, so plan your river trip now.
