The Au Train Island View Lodge is located on the shores of Lake Superior, 8 miles west of Munising off Highway M-28 in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. It is thirty miles from Marquette and only a short drive to the magnificent Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, Grand Island Recreation Area, and several cascading waterfalls. The AuTrain Island View Lodge is a 3-bedroom ranch style vacation home with a loft, 3 & 1/2 bathrooms, two great areas with a kitchen, living and dining room, two fireplaces, satellite TV, wireless internet, and comfortable furnishings. The Right Side of the AuTrain Island View Lodge offers two bedrooms and two full bathrooms. The living room is comfortably furnished and has a fireplace. The complete kitchen has full size appliances, microwave, coffee maker, toaster, blender, and just about anything you need for meal preparation except the groceries.
The Master bedroom is furnished with two queen beds and the attached bathroom has double sinks, roman tub, and shower. The second bedroom has two full beds. The additional bathroom has a shower. Linens, towels, and paper products are provided for our guests.
The AuTrain Island View Lodge has a large 97' deck with gas grill and picnic tables overlooking Lake Superior, AuTrain Island, and AuTrain Beach.
Relax on the deck or stroll down to the water front to enjoy fantastic sunsets and the many faces of Lake Superior.
There is a rock stairway leading to the 200’ of sandstone shoreline. It’s a good spot for collecting unusual rocks and getting your toes wet, although it can be slippery. For those who enjoy swimming, the AuTrain Beach is just west of the Lodge and there is a nice swimming beach at the campground on Au Train Lake.
Have a wonderful vacation at the comfortable AuTrain Island View Lodge while you enjoy all the exciting outdoor recreation that the area has to offer or visit interesting local attractions. There are a variety of trails for mountain biking and the ATV trails are only a short distance from the Lodge. The Pictured Rocks offers trails for hiking or you can drive to some of the scenic spots and see Miners Castle and Munising Falls. The Pictured Rocks can be viewed from the water on the Pictured Rocks Cruise, the Shipwreck Tour, Riptide Ride, kayak, or pontoon boat. Grand Island can be toured by hiking or biking. Bikes can be rented at the Ferry dock. Take a canoe trip down the AuTrain River or in AuTrain Lake, go charter fishing, or take a waterfall tour. Some waterfalls can be seen from your car, while the others range from an easy walk to a more vigorous hike. There is abundant beauty in every season on Lake Superior. Spring is beautiful as the wildflowers come to life and the birds return. The long days of summer provide lots of time for adventure. If you visit at the right time in August, you can pick blueberries on the property or visit in the fall as spectacular autumn colors cover the area. Cozy up next to one of the fireplaces and enjoy the tranquil setting after a day of Winter sports. Alger County gets amazing lake effect snow that starts early and stays late. There are hundreds of miles of groomed trails leading throughout the county and all over the Upper Peninsula. Cross Country Skiers will find groomed trails for novice to expert skiers, including the trails at Christmas, only 5 miles east of the Lodge. Try your luck ice fishing or there is ice climbing for the very adventurous. The entire Autrain Island View lodge can be rented year round and sleeps up to 14 or, for smaller groups, you can rent the Right Side of the Lodge only in the off-season. For information, and
