The Union River Campground at the eastern end of the Porcupine Mountains is now open. The campground is located 2.5 miles west of Silver City and 15 miles west of Ontonagon in the Western Upper Peninsula of Michigan.
The Union River Campground offers 50 spacious, grassy campsites nestled in a wooded area by the Union River and across the road from Lake Superior and a sand beach that is open to the public. Take a lawn chair or a blanket and sit on the beach and enjoy this majestic lake or find a few choice rocks for your collection.
The Campsites are quiet and scenic with electric service and some with electric and water. There are 8 large grassy pull-through sites. There is a modern restroom and shower house and a dump station. All campsites have fire rings and picnic tables with firewood available at the office.
The Union River Campground is a wonderful spot for your camping vacation. Early risers might like to take a short walk over to Lake Superior and enjoy an amazing sunrise. What a wonderful way to start your day. Not an early riser? The sunsets are just as exciting as the sun drops over the Porcupine Mountains.
