During the summer, the Star Motel has picnic tables and grills on the shore of Lake Michigan. Take a short walk down to the lake and relax by the water or sit in the swing and enjoy the view. Spend the day fishing, boating or swimming at Indian Lake, then come back to the motel and enjoy a picnic dinner as night falls on Lake Michigan.

During the winter, the Star Motel offers easy access to the snowmobile trails. Snowmobile from your door. There is a large parking area for snowmobile trailers. Snowmobile rental nearby in Manistique.

The 114 miles of well-groomed Schoolcraft County trails connect to the over 2,500 miles of interconnecting trails crossing the Upper Peninsula. The main trail takes you directly out to the south end of the Hiawatha National Forest, then on to Munising and Grand Marais.

Fayette Historic Village; Big Springs; Seney National Wildlife Refuge, view the refuge by car, bike or canoe, Rentals nearby; Seul Choix Lighthouse, known locally as the Haunted Lighthouse is just a few miles east of the motel in Gulliver; Tahquamenon Falls; Whitefish Point Lighthouse and Great Lakes Shipwreck Museum; Pictured Rocks; Canoe the Manistique or Indian Rivers, Visit Point Iroquois and AuSable Lighthouses and Museum; and the Thompson State Fish Hatchery is open weekdays for viewing between 8.00 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Hundreds of acres of public land in the Hiawatha National Forest for fishing, paddling, biking, hunting, and hiking.
