The North Star Brick Oven Bakery is located between Paradise and Newberry in the eastern Upper Peninsula of Michigan. If you are looking for delicious bread, stop at the North Star Brick Oven Bakery, 13 miles north of Newberry on Highway M-123. This bread bakery is just south of the entrance to the Upper Tahquamenon Falls. Pick up a loaf or two to take to your cabin or camp. You'll be back for more. North Star Artisan breads contain only the finest ingredients and each loaf is naturally leavened, using all natural starter. Some of the breads are made with a wild yeast indigenous to the Upper Peninsula, all are made with crystal clear well water and contain no preservatives or chemicals. The bread dough is made with organically grown flour hand milled in a 50 year old hand-crank mill.
North Star breads are hand shaped and baked directly on the hearth of the uniquely designed wood-fired brick oven. No two loaves are ever alike. The wood-fired brick oven, built by Paul, is heated first with a wood fire, then when the oven reaches the required temperature, the coals are raked out and the loaves placed in the oven. The bricks stay warm while the bread bakes. Nothing makes better toast, sandwiches, or crumbs. The breads subtle flavor is a wonderful compliment to any quality food. It keeps well and is easy to digest. In short, it's the perfect staff of life. Call (906) 658-3537 or stop in to see which breads are
featured on specific days or for special orders. Hearth Breads offered by North Star Brick Oven Bakery
