Your Host Lynn Ketola Welcomes you to the Ivory Mansion Bed and Breakfast

The Ivory Mansion B&B is located about 2 minutes north of L'Anse on the crest of a hill in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Enjoy the warm hospitality offered our guests in this quiet peaceful setting.

This lovely bed and breakfast offers themed guest rooms decorated with glimpses of the owner's ethnic heritage. Each bedroom has a private bathroom and we offer wireless internet access for our guests.

The vestibule and living room are furnished with an oriental décor. Guests are invited to sit around the wood-burning fireplace on the comfortable couch and relax after enjoying all the interesting activities the L'Anse and Baraga area has to offer.

Gourmet breakfasts are served in the elegant dining room and feature Scandinavian specialties such as Finnish pancakes, crepes, omelets, and breakfast casseroles. Guests might enjoy a cup of tea or a light snack in front of the fireplace in our cheerful kitchen.

A lovely front porch is furnished with wicker chairs and decorated with seasonal flowers. The upstairs balcony offers a view of Keweenaw Bay, the town of Baraga, awesome sunsets, and the Sand Point Lighthouse. One of the sons of the original owner, Jean Crebassa, was the first lighthouse keeper from 1878 until 1908.

There is a walking path that meanders through the back woods through 10 acres of trees, ferns, and wildflowers for a morning or evening stroll.

The Scandinavian Community Room

The Scandinavian Room is available for all our guest to use. Relax in the hot tub with a skylight above, enjoy the cedar sauna, or relax in front of the wood-burning fireplace in the Scandinavian Room. Recliners by the window are the perfect setting for looking over Keweenaw Bay towards the town of Baraga and viewing the night sky. There is a computer so you can check your e-mail and we offer wireless internet access. This room is also available for rental.

The Sand Point Lighthouse

The Sand Point Lighthouse is located on the west side of Keweenaw Bay in the town of Baraga. This light was first lit in 1878 and the first Keeper of the Light was Jean Crebassa, Lynn's great uncle. He tended this light for 30 years until he retired in 1908.

The light is owned by the Keweenaw Bay Indian Community and is not open to the public, but visitors are welcome to stop by and take photographs.

Directions: Go just north of Baraga on US-41 and turn east into the Obijway Campground. Take the first road to the right (gravel) and go to the fork in the road. Turn left and you will find the Sand Point Lighthouse on the shore.

We offer our guests refreshments during the day such as a refreshing glass of strawberry lemonade served on the front porch or a variety of beverages.

One section of the Ivory Mansion B&B is the original cabin, built in 1836 by a voyageur from Montreal and has been in the family ever since. This original home has been restored and the large addition to the home was built in 2000.
