On the shores of Powell Lake
The DreamCatcher Log Cabin Lodge offers comfortable accommodations in our completely furnished modern vacation home on the shores of Powell Lake in the heart of the Hiawatha National Forest. Conveniently located just 6 miles south of Munising, MI and the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.
The DreamCatcher Lodge is a beautiful log cabin with knotty pine interior and has 3-bedrooms, a sleeping loft, and two full bathrooms. One bedroom has a full-sized bed, the second bedroom has a queen-sized bed, and the other bedroom has 2 twin-sized beds. There is a full-sized bed in the loft. All bedrooms have new log beds and mattresses. There are two bathrooms; one has a tub and shower and the other bath has a shower. The Lodge will comfortably sleep 6 to 8 guests. Linens, towels, and paper products are provided.
The great room is comfortably furnished and has a wood-burning stove for relaxing by the fire, two TVs with local reception, a VCR, DVD, and a small video library. The kitchen has a fully equipped kitchen with full sized appliances, dishwasher, microwave, coffee maker, toaster, plus dishes and cooking utensils. Laundry room with washer and dryer.
The cottage has a front and back deck with a covered porch, ideal for sitting, relaxing, and listening to the sounds of the Upper Peninsula. There is lawn furniture and a charcoal grill for your cookouts.
A walkway leads down to the lakeshore where you will find a dock and a nice shallow beach with a sand bottom; perfect for the children. Powell Lake is a spring-fed lake with clean clear water and lots of fish. Spend the afternoon sitting on the dock while you get a little sun or relaxing there with your morning cup of coffee. Powell Lake has good fishing so you might want to bring your fishing gear and try your luck catching pike, perch, walleye, or a mess of panfish. Delicious cooked on the grill. Take a row around the lake and enjoy the woods and waters of the north woods.
There is a fire pit by the lakeshore for campfires under the stars and roasting marshmallows.
The DreamCatcher Log Cabin in located in the heart of the Northwoods of the Hiawatha National Forest. Start your day with a nice stroll down the road, listen to the birds sing, and maybe you will find a few berries to put on your cereal. The forest has hundreds of acres of public land for hiking, biking, ATVing, berry picking, hunting, birding, canoeing, kayaking, and enjoying wildlife. Easy access to snowmobile and ATV trails
The DreamCatcher Lodge is conveniently located near Munising and the western entrance to the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. Enjoy the Shipwreck Tour in the Glass Bottom Boat, the Pictured Rocks Cruise, or try charter fishing on Lake Superior. There are hiking trails for all visitors from short walks to more strenuous hikes. Stop at the Visitor Center at the blinking light for maps of the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore and directions to area waterfalls
Photographers will find many wonderful opportunities for great photographs from the beautiful rock formations along the lakeshore, wild or quiet Lake Superior, waterfalls, or dainty wildflowers growing near a trail.
Winter brings lots of snow to Alger County and this is the perfect spot for your winter vacation. Have some fun snowmobiling on the 300 miles of trails in Alger County. Snowmobile trail access right by the cabin so you can ride from the door on the over 300 miles of groomed and marked snowmobile trails through the woods and wilderness of the Hiawatha National Forest. Don't have a sled? Snowmobile rental nearby.
We are located near groomed cross-country ski trails with 11 miles of groomed trails in the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore and 25 miles of trails at Valley Spur. Go snowshoe through the woods in the forest or try your luck ice fishing.
