Comfortable two bedroom rental guest house by the Laughing Whitefish River, 23 miles west of Munising or 10 miles west of AuTrain in Alger County in the Central Upper Peninsula of Michigan.

Deerton Guest House is a fully furnished two-bedroom upper level lodging by the Laughing Whitefish River. There is an open concept living area with a free standing gas fireplace and a satellite TV with a VCR & DVD player.

The complete kitchen has full sized appliances including a dishwasher, microwave, coffee maker, toaster, and cooking and eating utensils.

There is a double bed and a twin bed in each bedroom and a bathroom with a shower. We have an inflatable mattress available if needed. Sleeps up to 6 guests. Linens, towels, and paper products are provided for our guests.

There is a large deck off the living area with chairs for relaxing after a busy day enjoying the beauty of the surrounding woods and water. Gas grill for cookouts and there is a large parking area for boat, snowmobile, and ATV trailers.

The guest house is conveniently located only 50 yards from the Laughing Whitefish River for excellent steelhead, salmon, and trout fishing in the spring and fall or you can go charter fishing on Lake Superior with charters in Shelter Bay, only a few miles from the cottage.

Relax by the Laughing Whitefish River in our new screened in gazebo with 16 sides. There is a gas grill for outdoor cooking and a fire pit by the gazebo for evening campfires by the river.

Enjoy the Laughing Whitefish Lake Preserve, 5 miles south of the guest house where you might see wildflowers and wildlife including eagles, loons, warblers, a variety of songbirds, and woodpeckers as well as bears, river otter, and beaver. An absolutely beautiful and peaceful spot by Whitefish Lake and a nice spot for canoeing.

Deer Lake is 5 miles east of the cottage for swimming and boating and there is a public access and a boat ramp at the roadside park on M-28.

This is a wonderful woodland area where you can enjoy hiking, biking, hunting, canoeing, fishing, ATVing, as well as birding and photography. You are not far away from Munising where you can enjoy the beautiful Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, Grand Island, and the many area waterfalls. Marquette is 17 miles west of the Guest House where you will find Northern Michigan University, the Superior dome, dining, and unique shops and galleries.

Winter Fun

Winter lovers will find the Guest House right on the snowmobile trail for easy access to the main trail between Marquette and Munising. The hundreds of miles of groomed trails in Alger County are a delight for sledders of all ages.

Go ice fishing, cross-country skiing on nearby trails, or plod through the woods on some snowshoes. There is downhill skiing and snowboarding at Marquette Mountain on the south side of Marquette.

Photographers will have wonderful photo opportunities with frozen waterfalls, snowy countryside, and icy Lake Superior.
