Vacation at the Au Train Lake Cottage, a two bedroom housekeeping cottage on the shores of AuTrain Lake, 2 miles south of Lake Superior and 10 miles west of the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore in the Central Upper Peninsula of Michigan.

This cozy cottage is only a few feet from Au Train Lake and has a nice sandy beach . . . great for playing in the sand, relaxing, and swimming. There is a long dock for fishing, sunning, and mooring the boats. A fishing boat with a motor, a canoe, and a paddleboat come with the cabin rental or you can bring your own boat to use on the lake. There is a boat ramp at the campground. AuTrain is one of the larger inland lakes in the Upper Peninsula and is perfect for water sports such as waterskiing, wakeboarding, and tubing as well as fishing.

The AuTrain Lake Cottage has two bedrooms with a queen-sized bed in each room and a bathroom with a shower. Linens and towels are provided but please bring your paper products. There is a complete kitchen with full-sized appliances, microwave, toaster, coffee maker and necessary cooking and dining utensils. The open concept living area has a knotty pine interior, cable TV, a sofa sleeper for extra guests, and sliding glass doors that open on to the deck. The deck has a grill and a table with chairs that is perfect for your morning coffee or a cool beverage while you enjoy the wonderful view of the lake, or sit at the picnic table on the front lawn.

The inviting sand beach is where you will spend most of your time, relaxing in the swing, swimming, trying the paddleboat, or sitting around your campfire. Great spot for the kids to play in the sand and have fun. Go for a morning or evening boat ride around the lake or a quiet paddle down the AuTrain River, just east of the cottage by water if you follow the shoreline. Nice paddle to the first bridge or go to the second bridge for a morning or afternoon trip through the Hiawatha National Forest. You might see wildlife as they come down to the river to drink.

Anglers will like to fish in AuTrain Lake or the AuTrain River for walleye, large and small mouth bass, perch, northern pike, and panfish. Take the canoe or fishing boat out and drop a line and see what happens. You just might come home with a delicious dinner to be cooked on the grill.

The Au Train Lake Cottage is conveniently located near Munising and the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, Grand Island, boat tours, scuba diving, charter fishing, sea kayaking, several waterfalls, hiking trails, historic buildings, and the museum.

Sorry, no pets.
