within the Hiawatha National Forest Andersons "Lake of the Loons" cabin is a chalet style log cabin on the shore of 16 Mile Lake. Sit on the deck, relax and look out over this beautiful big lake. This two bedroom cabin sleeps up to 6. There are two twin beds in one bedroom and one queen sized bed and two twins in the second bedroom. New furnishings have been added. The cabin is completely equipped including a full kitchen with microwave. Linens and paper products are provided. There is a gas grill on the deck and a firepit nearby for bonfires. Sit around a bonfire enjoying the starlit skies and the Hiawatha National Forest surrounding you. Wood is provided for your campfire.
A gentle slope leads to the lake where you will find a dock for sunning or fishing and a sand-bottom beach for swimming and wading. A paddle boat, row boat, and a canoe are included with the rental so you can enjoy fishing or a leisurely paddle around the lake. If you bring your own boat, it can be launched by the cabin. 16 Mile Lake is large enough for water sports and gas and electric motors are permitted. Go fishing in this lake filled with northern pike, perch and panfish and then cook your fresh fish outside on the deck. If you don't feel like cooking, good food is available at the Buckhorn Restaurant and Lounge, about 5 miles away.
Munising has many recreational opportunities with scuba diving, 18 hole golf course, swimming, boating, canoeing, hiking, biking, hunting, ATVing, and fishing. Beautiful waterfalls, Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, Glass Bottom Boat Shipwreck Tours a chance for non-divers to clearly view some of the shipwrecks in Munising Bay the Alger Underwater Diving Preserve Pictured Rocks Cruises and Grand Island National Recreation Area.
